Fighting-Again

It is official. Ovarian Cancer has reared its ugly head once again. I have to give it credit for being persistent. I really thought we had kicked it to the curb the first time. Today was my first tattoo in my life. Pretty uneventful in the scheme of things. One nice thing about getting radiation at a military hospital is that they do have reserved parking for radiation patients. There are so many people being treated for various conditions, that I am slightly surprised they would have specific parking spots for radiation. Evidently, we rate. All of this follows on the heels of successful treatment that ended 14 months ago. The first go round, I worked every minute that I wasn’t getting chemo, but this time, daily radiation makes that look unlikely. I feel like a pro at chemo already, but radiation is uncharted water.

  1. Sorry you and the family have to deal with this again. Y’all get our prayers every night, and lots of thoughts throughout the days. Hang in there, my friend. Always available if you need to vent. :). Kristi Frick

  2. I like the idea of this journal, though I wish the subject matter had not intruded on your life. One of my friend’s big complaints about radiation was how sensitive it made her skin; she recommends some really good lotion. They have probably told you stuff like that already. The parking spaces are a nice thing, at least…

  3. Hey Kym, wanted you to know that you cross my mind daily. the thing that’s burned most in my memory is your smile. When I think of it, it makes me smile and if i’m having a rough day, I picture you smiling and It makes me feel better, and lets me know that I can make it through anything because you have. Thanks for that. Keep smiling, keep fighting, keep being the awesome that is you. Our family has you and yours in our thoughts and prayers. XO – Lyla Prather

  5. Kym,
You can do this…I know you can. You are the strongest person I know. I am not very good at face-to-face expression but know that I think about you and your family often. You are in my prayers always. If you need ANYthing at all, feel free to text, call, or email me. I have your back. I can xerox for you…deliver papers to and from Ben…whatEVER you need. I have your back and more. Don’t think about school, you consummate professional. In the greater plan of life, this is more important.

    Love,
